Navigation devices now enable designers to pan, zoom, and rotate objects within SolidWorks 2008 and customize programmable speed keys and keyboard functions.

Dconnexion's line of D mice is now supported by SolidWorks 2008, allowing CAD designers to navigate and control D objects in SolidWorks while customizing programmable speed keys and keyboard modifiers.

Dconnexion's mice also are compatible with eDrawings 2008, the free viewing and publishing application for sharing 2D drawings and D models.

"Hardware innovation is becoming increasingly important to the user interface," said Jon Hirschtick, founder, group executive, and board member of SolidWorks. "The Wii is a great example of that, and Dconnexion's D mouse is another -- it allows you to see what you want faster."

With Dconnexion mice, CAD designers reportedly can draft and develop products by panning, zooming, and rotating objects in one smooth motion. Engineers and product-design teams can customize speed keys with functions or keyboard modifiers, and create sets for each document type, such as part, assembly, or drawing, for one-touch access to SolidWorks functions.

Ziva Nissan, Dconnexion's director of product marketing, added, "SolidWorks users working with SpaceExplorer do not have to move their hand from the ergonomically styled D mouse to manipulate D designs, which leads to increased productivity and a streamlined workflow."

The Dconnexion product line also is supported by Autodesk Maya, Autodesk ds Max, Adobe Photoshop CS Extended, Cinema 4D, form Z, and other D CAD applications. SolidWorks 2008 supports Dconnexion's product line on Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista.
